YR-OWN is a trading brand operated by Dexter Commercial Services Ltd. For privacy questions or to exercise your data-protection rights, contact support@yr-own.com.
Depending on how you use YR-OWN CAR, we may process account information such as your email address; vehicle information; mileage and maintenance history; photographs and uploaded documents; insurance and breakdown details; driving-licence information and endorsement records you choose to store; Shared Garage invitations and access settings; support correspondence; and technical/security information needed to operate and protect the service.
We use your information to provide and secure your account, store and display the records you ask us to keep, provide reminders and product features, enable user-controlled sharing, process purchases and customer support, prevent abuse, maintain the service and meet legal obligations.
We generally process information because it is necessary to provide the service you have requested or because we have legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving YR-OWN. Where the law requires consent for a particular activity, we will ask for it separately. We may also process information where necessary to comply with a legal obligation.
Payments are processed by our payment provider rather than by YR-OWN storing your full payment-card details. We also use service providers for hosting, database/storage, email delivery and other infrastructure. They may process information for us only as needed to provide those services and subject to appropriate contractual and security arrangements.
Camera, photo, screenshot and voice features are user initiated. Where smart-input features analyse an image, document or spoken input, the information is used to identify or pre-fill details for your review. YR-OWN is designed so that extracted information is presented for confirmation before it is saved where practical.
You control when a vehicle record is shared with another YR-OWN user. Driver Wallet information, licence numbers and personal endorsement records are not intended to form part of Shared Garage. Other export/share features should be reviewed by you before sending because vehicle records can contain personal information.
We keep account and product data for as long as your account or product record remains active and for a reasonable period afterwards where needed for security, support, accounting, dispute resolution or legal obligations. You may ask us to delete personal information where the law gives you that right. Some records may need to be retained for legal, tax, fraud-prevention or contractual reasons.
UK data-protection law may give you rights to access your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion or restriction, object to certain processing and receive certain information in a portable format. You can contact us at support@yr-own.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so users should use a strong unique password and keep access to their email account and devices secure.
We may update this notice when YR-OWN changes or legal requirements change. We will publish the current version in the product and, where a change materially affects how personal information is used, provide appropriate notice.

YR-OWN CAR is a personal vehicle-information and organisation service supplied by Dexter Commercial Services Ltd under the YR-OWN brand. These terms apply to use of the product and should be read together with our Privacy Notice.
You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for checking information you enter, scan, dictate or import. Smart-input, reminder and guidance features are aids only. They may be incomplete or inaccurate and must not replace official documents, manufacturer instructions, professional mechanical advice, insurer requirements, DVLA records or applicable law.
YR-OWN may provide practical motoring guidance and links to official sources. Laws, vehicle specifications and individual circumstances change. For safety-critical, insurance, licensing, tax, MOT or legal decisions, check the relevant official or professional source before acting.
The price and what is included will be shown before purchase. Payment is handled by our payment provider. We will provide confirmation of your purchase electronically. Where digital content or access is supplied immediately, the checkout process may ask you to expressly request immediate supply and acknowledge any effect this has on your statutory cancellation right.
Your statutory consumer rights are not affected by these terms. Different rules can apply to digital content supplied immediately after purchase. Where applicable, we will provide the information and obtain the acknowledgements required by UK consumer law before immediate digital supply. If YR-OWN CAR is faulty, not as described or does not meet statutory requirements, you may have legal remedies. For refund or cancellation questions contact support@yr-own.com.
Only share vehicle records with people you intend to give access to. Review exported or pre-filled information before sending it. You remain responsible for deciding what personal, insurance, document or vehicle information you disclose to another person.
You must not misuse the service, attempt unauthorised access, interfere with security, upload unlawful or malicious material, use another person’s information without an appropriate basis, or use YR-OWN in a way that infringes another person’s rights.
We aim to keep YR-OWN available and reliable, but uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed. We may make reasonable changes to maintain security, comply with law, improve functionality or update third-party integrations.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so or limits your statutory consumer rights. YR-OWN is a record-keeping and guidance tool; you remain responsible for vehicle operation, maintenance decisions, legal compliance and verifying safety-critical information.
Please contact support@yr-own.com first if you have a problem. We will aim to investigate and resolve genuine product and purchase issues fairly.

Exterior, interior, trips, memories and the moments that made this car yours.
The useful details specific to this car — the things you need when buying parts, checking the handbook or standing beside it.
You don’t need to know everything today. Add what you know and come back later. We explain why each detail is useful so the information means something rather than becoming another form to complete.
Knowing whether the car is petrol, diesel, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric helps YR-OWN CAR show the right advice.
These are the numbers you want immediately after an incident — not buried in an email or policy PDF.
Useful knowledge for owning, maintaining and looking after your car — what matters, why it matters and what to do when you need it.
Other owners can be an extraordinary source of model-specific experience. Look for established owners' clubs, marque forums and well-moderated groups for your exact model. Treat community advice as experience, not manufacturer instruction, and verify safety-critical work.
Check tyre pressures and condition, coolant and screenwash, air-conditioning, wipers and battery health. Carry drinking water on long/hot journeys and never leave children or pets in a parked hot car.
Check weather, tyres, battery, lights, antifreeze/screenwash protection and fuel/charge. Useful emergency kit includes de-icer, scraper, torch, warm clothing, boots, first-aid kit, jump leads, shovel, warm drink and emergency food.
Summer, winter and all-season tyres behave differently with temperature and conditions. Always use the correct size, load/speed rating and manufacturer pressure for the load being carried.
For each car, record the approved jacking points, towing/recovery points, removable towing-eye location, battery/jump terminals, fuse boxes, locking-wheel-nut key and puncture equipment. YR-OWN will support vehicle-specific reference images here.
Use leads suitable for the vehicle and follow the vehicle handbook's connection sequence and designated terminals. Modern, hybrid and EV systems can have specific restrictions — never guess connection points.
Example: 275/40 R22 108Y. 275 is the tyre width in millimetres; 40 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width; R means radial construction; 22 is the wheel diameter in inches; 108 is the load index; Y is the speed rating. Front and rear sizes or pressures can differ, and some manufacturers specify higher pressures when heavily loaded.
Viscosity is only part of the answer. Manufacturer specification, coolant type and washer-fluid freeze protection can all matter.
Record manufacturer-approved lifting points and the correct jump-start connection locations for your particular vehicle.
The electric system assists the combustion engine but does not normally propel the car for meaningful distances on its own.
Can use electric drive for short periods but is not normally plugged in; the battery is charged by the engine and regenerative braking.
Combines a combustion engine with a larger battery that can be charged externally, allowing meaningful electric-only driving.
Driven entirely by electric motors using energy stored in a high-voltage battery.
Insurance emergency/claims numbers and breakdown contact details should be available from the car record even if the original policy document is hard to find.
Know where the locking-wheel-nut key, towing eye, tyre inflator, puncture kit and other vehicle-specific equipment are kept.
Keep the paperwork that belongs with the car — and add as much as you need.
PDFs, photos and screenshots are stored privately against this vehicle. Smart Scan is optional — you do not need to scan a document just to keep it.
